So what else can I do besides relax . . .
There is SO much to do in the Sooke and surrounding area, too much in fact to list them all on this site. We do, however, encourage you to visit some of the tourist websites below to find more details on the many sights and activities readily available.
Exploring forested hiking trails, chartering a boat for sports fishing, flying along a zipline, biking the Galloping Goose trail and walking for miles along wave-pounded beaches are favourite pastimes here.
How about seeing some of the largest old-growth trees in Canada and even in the world! The Port Renfrew area is the "Big Trees Capital" of Canada. Check out this link for a map:
Go crabbing off the pier, visit a honey farm or shop for specialty food at the summer Saturday market.
East Sooke offers the ultimate in Solitude and Nature with many trails to choose from and is also considered a bird-watchers paradise.
Surfing and SUP devotees are also well served, and a set of fascinating guided tours, some arranged through our Special Packages, (kayaking, deep sea fishing, whale watching, seaweed collecting and mead-making included) puts one in the hands of knowledgeable local experts.
If art is more your style, there are many art galleries or studios to tour. Work from the best artists on the Island can be seen during the juried Sooke Fine Arts Show in the summer.
This YouTube video link is from one of our past guests visiting from France - some amazing pictures of both mainland Vancouver and Vancouver Island.
